About 600 students and 30 teachers at Spring Valley Elementary School and Woodway Elementary School in Midway ISD (Region 12), a Consortium Associate district, will take part in a research study during the 2019-20 school year, directed by a collaborative team composed of Baylor University researchers, architects from Huckabee, and educational specialists from the Region 12 ESC.

They’ll study the impact of flexible learning environments — specifically furniture — on students’ ability to communicate and collaborate with each other, as well as think both critically and creatively. What educators want to know from the study is whether or not flexible learning environments have an effect on student learning and student engagement.
